It's an understatement to say CrossFit Catacombs is “excited” to welcome our first and newest addition to the coaching staff, Tad Elliott. It's freaking awesome! We know you will agree. Not only does Tad have an impressive athletic training background to offer, but also he brings an infectiously positive can-do attitude to all his endeavors. Based on popular demand, we are bringing on Tad to develop and run our kids, teens and endurance programs and support group classes periodically. Tad brings with him a ton of experience both coaching kids and integrating strength and conditioning training for endurance training.
A Durango native and resident his whole life, Tad grew up with a love of outdoor sports and the skills, heart and desire to compete at the national and international level. A former member of both the US Ski Team and the US Cycling National Team, Tad has an impressive athletic background including being a National Champion in Nordic Skiing four times and in Mountain Biking two times. He also raced World Cups and World Championships in both sports.
As the saying goes - the leaf doesn’t fall far from the tree - his father, Mike Elliott, competed in Nordic skiing in the Olympics three times and passionately gives back to the community through development programs for athletes at the local and national level. In a similar vein, Tad has been committed to giving back to the athletic community, enjoys working with athletes at all levels and absolutely adores and excels at working with kids. He has been on the coaching staff for Durango Nordic and worked with kids on overall athletic development his whole life.
Tad is looking forward to working with our athletes to help them with their overall fitness goals and giving them the confidence to do the activities they love, regardless of age, sport, and ambition. This happy guy is just happy to do what he loves. In the coming weeks, you will see Tad more around the gym co-coaching and preparing to launch the endurance and kids programs. Please welcome Tad when you see him at Catacombs.
