3 steps to getting started

CrossFit Catacombs exists to help you reach your fitness and athletic goals in a supportive, motivated community using the CrossFit methodology and philosophy. We understand that just getting to the door can be intimidating and that everyone is in a different place in their fitness journey when they come to us. The only expectation is that you commit to giving us 100% of your best effort when you walk through the doors and that you leave your ego outside. In return, we commit to giving you world class coaching in a small group setting, maximizing your valuable workout time, and making REAL IMPROVEMENT in your fitness. You will not find a more dedicated, compassionate, or knowledgeable coaching staff anywhere. We genuinely care about each of our athletes as individuals and are obsessed with keeping you safe and progressing toward your goals. Likewise, you will not find a more supportive or caring community in which to work on your fitness. If you've ever participated in a team sport and felt the power of being part of something larger than yourself, you may have a sense of what it is like to workout in our classes. We unfailingly support one another in the pursuit of better versions of ourselves.

No stress, no commitment. We will show you around the gym, give you an overview of who we are and what we are about, answer your questions, and formulate a plan for moving forward.

Step 2: Build a Foundation—The 6-Week Journey

Welcome! We are glad you are here. We want you to be in this for the long haul and therefore make a major investment in establishing a strong foundation. The first six weeks are critical for establishing new habits and getting traction on accomplishing your goals. Jumping in without logical progressions and focused coaching, however, is a recipe for injury. We believe that it is of critical importance to get you started on the right track with a solid understanding of the fundamentals and a measured introduction to the intensity of our style of working out. We created the 6-Week Journey to help you establish a solid routine and make meaningful gains in your first six weeks at Catacombs.

Athletes new to Catacombs begin by working one-on-one with one of our coaches. Through these sessions you will not only master the movements, but you will establish a coach-athlete relationship to help guide your journey and provide accountability. We want to understand your goals and obstacles, as that allows us to support you more personally and effectively. Some athletes complete four sessions and move into group classes with their coach’s support through the first six weeks. Others continue to train one-on-one with their coach throughout the journey. Many also begin working with our nutrition coach to more quickly reach their weight loss or body composition goals. We will work with you individually to customize your path based on your goals and preferences.

Step 3: Join the Community

If group classes are your goal, completion of the 6-Week Journey earns you the privilege to work, sweat, and achieve in Group Classes with some of the most motivated athletes in Durango. We don’t throw you into the fire alone, though. Our Group Classes maintain the same level of expert coaching and attention to detail as the 6-Week Journey. We pride ourselves on making sure that every athlete in every class for every workout is dialed in with appropriate loads and scaled options to maximize the benefit of your workout and still keep you safe. You won't find this attention to detail anywhere else and it makes all the difference. Similarly, our community is second to none. It is easier to experience it for yourself than to read about it. Suffice it to say that you are often capable of much more than you think you are. The people around you and the workout environment can help you find that next level. We don't believe in just going through the motions.
