Happy Weekend Catacombs Family–

Before I begin trying to write this blog, I must acknowledge with so much gratitude the outpourings of support from so many of you. These have been dark days and weeks for so many, yet you have shown once again that you are the helpers, the encouragers, the believers. I am honored to be a part of this amazing community.

We’ve been getting a lot of emails and questions and we know many of you are anxious to know when we are reopening. The honest answer is that we just don’t know. Current regulations only allow us to conduct private training and semi-private training in groups of 4 or less people. We are doing our best to utilize these options to serve as many of you as possible; but, we know that many needs are currently going unmet. For now, our virtual Zoom classes remain available to everyone.

We are anxiously awaiting guidance from the State of Colorado that will allow us to increase class sizes and/or hold outdoor workouts. This will be another step in the right direction to get more of you back in the gym or in outdoor group classes. Our coaches are ready and our processes are dialed. All that is missing is you. We hope to be given the go ahead in the next public health order tentatively planned for May 25th, but there are no guarantees that this will be the date or even that our operational needs will be addressed when it is issued.

Once we have a handle on how we can operate going forward, we will likely need to make modifications to our class schedule and membership structure. It is my hope that we can have these questions answered by June 1st, though the timeline is not in my control. Your patience and understanding is greatly appreciated.

On a brighter note, Memorial Day Weekend is next weekend and we will be doing Murph. We will open up as many slots as necessary to accommodate all who wish to pay tribute in this way. It won’t be the social event that we are all used to, but that was never really what Murph was about anyway. We do Murph as a reminder that many in our armed services have given their lives to protect our freedom and our way of life. That is one thing that has not changed. Beginning Monday (May 18), all Catacombs members will be able to sign up for a slot over Memorial Day Weekend to complete Murph.

As always, our priority is keeping you safe. Given that most of you have been out of the gym for the better part of 2 months, we are recommending modified versions of Murph to avoid overuse injury. An abundance of pull-ups and push ups could be a catastrophic setback and your coaches will be there as always to suggest safer options. We will also utilize a time cap to ensure we can get everyone through while still complying with public health orders.

We are doing our best to keep you healthy and connected to the community. Let us know what you need and how we can help. There are brighter days ahead.
