Last week I wrote to you about the importance of having a plan for your fitness and nutrition…even if that plan does not involve Catacombs. Today, I want to tell you about how having Catacombs at the center of that plan can make building consistency considerably easier than doing it on your own. You can read Part 1 of this series (Consistency First) here.

There are a lot of obstacles to building a consistent routine; especially when that routine challenges you to move out of your comfort zone. For many, building a consistent exercise habit is a desirable goal, but only a small percentage of those who set out actually achieve it. The failure rate of New Year’s Resolutions are a perfect example of this phenomenon. Those obstacles can include busy lives, inconsistent motivation, opposing habits that are deeply ingrained and hard to change, and delayed gratification, meaning results sometimes take more time than we have patience.

Because we believe consistency to be the key to improving fitness and body composition, we have set up a number of supports to help promote consistency. We know that if we can get you in the gym 3-4 days per week over a 3 month period, your health, fitness, and biomarkers will improve. Not only will you be healthier, you will also be hooked. In that time, you will have ingrained new patterns, built connections to coaches and community, and will all-around feel better. Your hour at the gym each day becomes something you look forward to doing rather than something you have to make yourself do.

Let’s talk about those supports to help build consistency:

  • Accountability—This comes in multiple forms. First, you have a primary coach that is dedicated to helping you succeed. They will check in on your progress, answer questions along the way, and serve as a resource throughout your time here. Second, you have a community of like-minded people that become your friends. They miss you when you aren’t here and sometimes just making those social connections is enough to get you to the gym even when a workout is the last thing you want to do. You don’t have to go it alone!
  • Variety and Fun—We really do want this to be the best hour of your day. We agonize over programming and workout plans to make sure that we are providing a quality product that is effective but also enjoyable. The best programming in the world is useless if the athletes for whom it is designed don’t want to do it. Your workout doesn’t have to be a drag!
  • Just Get Through the Door—Decision fatigue is a real thing, Trying to decide which exercises, how many sets and reps, and how much weight can be a major obstacle in and of itself. It is SO MUCH easier to get a workout in when the programming and planning is done for you. Just get to the door and we will take it from there. No decisions required.
  • Lots of Options—We offer 10 classes per day including the Workout of the Day, Strength, and Sweat options. We also offer 4 classes on the weekend. We never want your schedule to be the impediment to getting in your workout. Commit to it ahead of time. Put it in your calendar. Make it a priority.

If you are interested in getting started at Catacombs in the New Year, don’t wait. Let’s talk now. Schedule a No Sweat Intro and let’s get you going.
