Planks anyone?

Happy Fall Catacombs Family. I hope you are all enjoying the cooler temperatures and beautiful fall weather that we’ve been so fortunate to experience the last few weeks. The gym has been hopping and the energy has been fantastic from 5:30 AM to the last class of the day. I’m so grateful that I get to spend my days around such positive and motivating athletes and coaches. We’ve got some staff changes, Slay the Season, and our Winter Kids Program to talk about in this post so read on for all the details.

Coaching Staff:

Some of you have noticed the absence of Coach Matt this week. He went back to visit family in Louisiana this week but will not be returning to coaching at Catacombs. We wish him and Chelsie the best. We appreciate Matt’s work while he was here and know that he will be an asset in his next position.

You have probably also noticed some new faces at the whiteboard this week as Coach Lane and Coach Cody have been working with us in group classes. Neither of them are strangers to Catacombs and we are so excited to welcome them back to coaching. Lane was a Catacombs coach in the earliest days for many years and brings loads of experience and personality to his coaching. Cody is Coach Linda’s other half and has been coaching professionally most of his adult life whether it be group class, mountain biking, or private training. I hear he also knows a thing or two about coffee.

Slay the Season:

Join us again this year for our holiday attendance challenge running November 21st through January 6th. This is by far the most popular challenge we run all year and also the simplest. During this time of year when it is notoriously difficult to maintain health and fitness habits, we employ star charts and good old fashioned competition to keep you from drifting head first into the egg nog. We keep this super simple. If you come to class and work out, you get a star. If you accumulate enough stars, you are entered into a drawing for lots of cool prizes including gift cards, Catacombs membership, and swag. Coach Joon will be posting the details and sign up soon so stay tuned. Most importantly, start getting into the habit of hitting class regularly now so that when the holidaze hit, your foundation is strong.

Winter Teens Program:

We are about to wrap up our Fall Teens Program and it has been one of the best sessions we have had with our youth programs. We know from experience that November and December are hard times to get teens consistently into the gym, so we are taking a break until January. We will be running the next session starting January 9th which will run until March 16th. This is a great window of time for you runners and mountain bikers to get some fitness in before all those spring sports start up after spring break. We are running 2 sessions to keep our classes a little smaller. We will have a Monday/Wednesday option and a Tuesday/Thursday option. Sign up is open now and we will cap each session at 15 kids.
